[edit] History in the Myst Series
Catherine is referenced in the first Myst, when Atrus leaves a message for her directing her to their forechamber. The player usually reads this message near the beginning of the game.
The character of Catherine is expanded in Myst: The Book of Atrus, the prequel to the Myst game. Here we learn her name was actually Katran, emphasis on the second syllable. She worked with Anna to write the Age of Myst and to trap Gehn on Riven.
Catherine plays a role in the game of Riven, the second game of the Myst series. The goal of the game is to save Catherine from Gehn's clutches.
In Myst III: Exile Catherine plays a small role at the beginning of the game, bouncing her baby daughter Yeesha on her knee. She is also seen in several endings of the game.
Mentioned in Myst IV: Revelation a couple of times, Catherine is not seen again in any game.
