Linking book

A 'Linking book is a special book which has a panel on the right side of usually the first or second page of the book. The panel is either a picture or a moving picture. Upon touching the panel, the person who has the book will be transported to the Age shown in the picture.

You and all of your clothing, equipment, etc. comes with you. However, with the exception of Yeesha's Relto book, the book remains behind when you link, a fact which has been used to trap people time and time again. Saavedro was trapped on J'nanin when Sirrus and Achenar linked out while holding the linking book directly above a fire.
