A great volcano was in the general area of the surface above the Cavern.
Its rock face was decorated with figueres with utstretched arms and tilted heads, eyes and mouths, coming out from its caldera. Young Atrus used to hid at a rock ledge in the shadow of its rim[1]
Around it was a fractured desert floor. A mile below it was the Cleft.[2]
